Sympozjum
The John Paul II Pontificate’s Center for Documentation and Research in collaboration with the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure (Seraphicum) present an International Symposium : Christ – the Church – Man. Vatican II in the Pontificate of John Paul II
The Symposium will be an opportunity to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the election of Most Rev. Cardinal Karol Wojtyla as the successor of Saint Peter. The International Symposium will take place October 28-29, 2008, at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure (Via del Serafico 1 – Rome, Italy).
John Paul II was a challenging witness to the significance of the Council Vatican II:
“As I stand on the threshold of the Third Millennium in medio Ecclesiae, I would like once again to express my gratitude to the Holy Spirit for the great gift of the Second Vatican Council, to which, together with the whole Church - and especially with the whole Episcopate - I feel indebted. I am convinced that it will long be granted to the new generations to draw from the treasures that this 20th-century Council has lavished upon us”. (Testament of the Holy Father)
The Congress will focus on the Council teachings that continue to illuminate life in the Church today, and in the world of men and women of our time. The presence of distinguished speakers from the ecclesiastical and academic world, as well as representatives of other religions, will seek to cover the wide horizons in line with the Council characterized in the presence of John Paul II in these two millennia.
His life, lived between nova et vetera, was a synthesis of tradition and new prospective.
